先日、ある人生の先輩とオンラインでお会いする機会がありました。彼女はアメリカのジャーナリズムの世界で道を切り開いてきた人。私は彼女のことを知っていて、彼女の仕事をオンラインでも見ている、そんな存在の人です。
何が嬉しかったかというと、私が今までどんな媒体で仕事をしてきたかというのをオンラインで見て、知り合い申請をしてくれたのがわかったこと。共通の知り合いがいて最終的に私の友人が紹介してくれたのですが、その前にその人が私に興味を持ってくれたというのが、嬉しかったですねえ。
話をしてみると２児の母でもあり、話をする時間があっという間に感じられました。今度、コーヒーかランチでもという話になっているので、また人生のこと、仕事のこと、お話ししたいな。なんだか、素敵なご褒美をもらった、そんな気持ちになりました。
I met someone online, who is to me a pioneer. She has worked in journalism in USA. I knew about her and watched her work online.
What made me happy is that she earned an interest in me when she saw my career online. We actually had a mutual friend so after all, we were connected through her, but before my friend mentioned me, she was interested in me. That is really rewarding for me.
We had a lot to talk about our career and families and ended our talk by saying we should have coffee or lunch. I'd love to do it since time flew when we met online. It was such a reward for me, who has worked freelance.
