先日、仕事で滞在した九州。ほんの二時間ほどの滞在時間でしたが、伊万里焼の里に行きました。
そんなに大きな集落ではなく、佐賀藩の鍋島直茂が朝鮮出兵撤退の際に多くの陶工を連れて帰ってきたのが、有田焼（伊万里焼は有田焼の種類）の始まりだそうです。
陶器ではなく磁器だということ、その違いは土と石だそう。それも初めて知りました。
のどかな里山に何軒もの窯元があり、いまはもう煙突はほとんど使われていない証拠に草が生えていましたが、昔の名残の煙突もあちらこちらにありました。
美しい場所でした。ちょうど鶯の鳴き声も聞こえ、いつか、また行きたい場所として心に残りました。
I went to Kyushu for work. It was only two hours that we stayed. I went to Imari ware village. It wasn't a big village. Arita ware started as Naoshige Naoshima, the feudal clan of Saga brought many potters from Korea when Japan withdrew from the invasion of Korea. Imari ware is a kind of Arita ware.
Imari yaki is porcelain, not pottery. The difference is stone and clay (seems like there is a stricter definition but simply put, it's the materials). I didn't know it.
There were many klins on the pastoral hill and many chimneys left although most of them had some plants covering them to prove that they were not in use any more.
It was a beautiful place. We heard Japanese nightingale type of bird warblers (uguisu) singing. I'd love to go back there. Again.
