昨日の夜に母から連絡がありまして、わたしが10年前に投函した手紙が届き、とても嬉しいとのこと。
これ、実は愛知県の明治村から出した手紙のことなんです。書いた日から10年後に届くという設定で、手紙が出せるんですよ。
両親に宛てて書いたことは覚えていましたが、それが今年だったとはすっかり忘れていました。あの頃わたしは独身で、10年後の自分なんて想像もできませんでした。両親も元気にいてくれるかもわからない中、とにかく、みんな健康でいてくれたらいいねというようなことを書いていたそうです。
途中で病気になった家族もいるものの、願い通り家族全員いまは大きな病気もなくやっています。わたしも一人だったのが、夫と結婚し、二人の子どもに恵まれました。ありがたいな、と思う一日の締めくくりでした。
I had a phone call from my mom last night saying she received a letter I wrote ten years ago and she was very happy.
The letter was sent from Meijimura, Aichi. They have a post office that lets you write letters to be sent in ten years.
I remembered I had written the letter to my parents but didn't remember this years was the tenth year. I was single then, couldn't imagine what I'd be doing in ten years. I didn't know if my parents would be fine so just wrote I wished everyone to be healthy.
Some of us were sick at some point in the last ten years, but we all have been doing well as I wished then. I am married now and have two children. It was a blessing time to think of what I have now.
