その人の品というか、人柄というか、顔に出ませんか？それを顕著に感じるのは、政治家の顔を見ている時が多いですね。育ちはいいはずなのに、漢字の読めないあの大臣なんて、本当に品性のないお顔……。
時に道で絡まれたりすると、まじまじとその人の顔を見てしまうことがあります。もう何年も前ですが、お祭りがあり、みんなが道端に座って山車が通るのを見ていた時のこと。高齢の女性が夫に向かって侮蔑的な言葉を放ちました。夫が明らかにアジア人ではないということからの差別的な言葉です。
基本おおらかな？わたしも、そういう時は反射的に自分の一番ネイティブな言葉、つまり関西弁で言い返すのですが、その方に言い返しながら顔の在り方をまじまじと見てしまいました。
なんというのか、どう見ても「幸せで笑顔で生きてきた」顔ではなかったんですよね。
やっぱり生き方は顔に出ますね。その人の見た目の美醜というのではなく、品性があるかどうかは雰囲気に出るというのか、わたしもしっかりと生きなければ！と思った次第でした。

When someone messes around me on the street, I cannot help staring at the face. It's years ago, but my family and I were on the street seeing a festival. Everyone was sitting on a side street. An elderly woman threw some contemptuous words. It was racial because my husband clearly doesn't look Asian.
I think I am generally generous (just generally, though!) but when I have that kind of moment, I reflexively use my most native language, Kansai dialect, to say back. As doing so, I couldn't help staring at her facial feature.
What should I put it, it wasn't a face "that has been happy and smiled in life."
That's the time I thought how you have lived is shown on your face. Not that one is good looking or not, but if one has a dignity or modesy. This made me think I need to live with dignity and modesty.
