友人の中には、子どもが受験生という人もいます。自分の子どもの頃といまは変わっているんだろうと推測します。
いろんな国の人と制作業をしていると、英語ができれば世界が広がるというのは真実だなとは思います。わたし自身、今年に入ってのクライアントはイギリス、アメリカ、香港、シンガポール、ドイツと様々です。それもこれも、日本での撮影に際し、英語でのやりとりができないから。英語でのやりとりが一般的でないからこそわたしの仕事が発生するという皮肉はありますが。
ですので、子どもがどんな道へ進もうとも、「英語でのコミュニケーションが取れる」ということを前提にすることが、これから社会に出る子どもたちには必要だと思います。英語はあくまでもツールですが、このツールが使いこなせれば、自分の土俵が世界規模になるので。

Your world extends when you are able to speak English as someone who's in media from different countries. My clients since January have been from England, USA, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Germany. There are still many companies and authorities talking to them in English. It's ironic that I get to work because Japan isn't a country you can get by in English generally speaking.
So children need to have English capability with the assumption of they can communicate in English with everyone in the world. English is only a tool, but if you can use the tool, your world to play is worldwide.
