東北旅行に行ってきました。震災関連の仕事で女川、浪江、石巻、気仙沼などに行ったことがありますが、来年、また行きそうなので、その下見が理由の一つ。もう一つの理由は、日本のラジオ番組制作をしている元仕事仲間で南三陸によく行く人がいて、彼からいつも、人は優しいし食べ物は美味しいという話を聞いていて、いつか行ってみたいと思っていたからです。なので、今回の宿は南三陸にしました。
うち、一泊は、「美希の家」に泊まりました。こちらは、一度に１組限定のお宿です。実は、名前の由来になった娘の美希さんが南三陸の町職員で、結果的には津波で命を亡くされたご両親が営む場所。夕食と朝食時にはお客さんの横に座り、会話をするスタイル。もともとやっている漁業の話、東北や南三陸の町の話をしました。もちろん美希さんや、もう一人の娘さんのことにも話は及びました。「美希の家」を始めた理由は、美希さんを失ってから、生きているけど息をしているだけという気持ちだった状態から何とか抜け出そうとしたこと、前から町からの斡旋で学生に対して行っていた民泊体験プログラムで自分たちも救われていると感じたことをお伺いしました。部屋は２部屋、けれども２部屋あるからといって知らない人達同士を泊まらせるということはないとのこと。常に、自分たちの目の届く範囲でのやり方をしたいとおっしゃっていました。１人で泊まっても他の方が泊まらないということは、採算度外視で宿をやってらっしゃることが明白です。
子育ての話も聞き、またもや我が身を振り返り、反省するわたしです。また、絶対にお伺いしますね！ それまで美恵子さん、清喜さん、お体に気をつけてくださいね。
I went to Tohoku, northern part of Japan. I have been to a few different places in the region for work including Onagawa, Namie, Ishinomaki and Kesennuma. I may go there next year so one of the reasons of this trip was to check Minamisanriku. The other reason was because I was interested in the town since one of my former radio coworkers keeps saying it's a great town with very kind people and great food.
We stayed at two places. One night, we stayed at the little inn called Miki no Ie, where only one group can stay each night. They named this inn after their own daughter, Miki, who sadly lost her life when 311 tsunami hit the region. The parents would sit with you over meals enjoying conversations. We talked about their fishing business, towns of Minamisanriku and other places in Tohoku, and about Miki and their other daughter. They started to run the inn because they felt like they were just breathing after losing their daughter. When seeking how to get their lives back, they found having visitors they would time to time do through the town meaningful for them to feel saved, at the time, for the program where foreign students experience local houses in Minamisanriku. There are only two rooms and they only accept one group even there is a single person staying. They want to talk to their visitors comfortably and manage it within their capacity. It tells that they run the place not for profits.
I heard how they grew their daughters, which made me think I need to consider how to deal with my own children... We will absolutely come back there! Please take care, Mieko-san and Seiki-san!
