今日はオリンピック閉会です。我が家はそもそもテレビのない家なので、競技をテレビで見ることはありませんでした。でも、新聞やネットで様子を伺うことはあったのと、世界の舞台で活躍する選手の努力はもの凄いものだと思うので、純粋に尊敬の念を抱いています。
ですが、わたしはこの状況での開催には反対意見だったので、この２週間で爆発的に増えた東京と全国のコロナ感染の数を見ると、やっぱりねという気持ちしかありません。
世界を上げてのイベントがある時に、緊急事態宣言を受けて外出を控えようと思う人がそこまで多くないだろうというのと、この宣言も４度目なので宣言慣れしてしまっているでしょう。
医療逼迫は深刻な様子、とにかくこのあと感染者の数が減るようにと祈っています。
Today we have the closing ceremony for the Tokyo Olympics. We don't have TV at home so I actually didn't watch any games. But I heard/ read about some games on the internet and newspaper. And I truly respect the athletes' effort who play at that world-scale event.
That said, that doesn't mean I supported the event happening in this situation. Looking at the spike of the number of COVID infection cases in Tokyo and throughout Japan, I only feel that was easily predictable.
How do many people think they have to stay at home because we have a state-of-emergency announced when this world wide event is happening? And this state was issued the forth time. We are now used to having the state.
The medical situation in the area seems very serious and in a crisis. I really hope cases will go down.
